High-End House Using Rediwall Retaining & Basement
About The Build
This home in Kaiteriteri is being built on a steep site, with the design cutting into the hillside to create a six bedroom home over five levels. The build requires retaining and basement walls that can be installed efficiently despite the limited access and tight working areas.
To meet these demands, the builders are installing AFS Rediwall 200mm profile. The system was chosen for its versatility, speed, and ease of construction on a complex site – unlike traditional methods, which are slower and more labour-intensive.
More than 450m² of Rediwall is being used for the retaining and basement walls.
Why Rediwall Works Well?
Rediwall’s lightweight panels are easy to lift and install, making them more manageable onsite than traditional blockwork. Becuase the installation process is straightforward, builders can complete the work themselves without the need of an extra trade. This helps keep the build moving and avoids delays between the trades. Onsite installation assistance and technical support is available if required to help speed up construction.
The Rediwall system arrives onsite ready to start installing. The panels click and slide together, and are core-filled with concrete, ready for the finishing trades. This straightfoward process keeps construction efficient and helps speed up the overall timeline.
On builds like this, speed is key. Rediwall can be installed twice as fast as blockwork. For a multi-storey home on a steep site, the gains in productivity and buildability are clear.
Benefits of Rediwall:
